Become a Friend of Wells Cathedral Chorister Trust and make a difference to musical children who otherwise may not have a chance to shine.
Wells Cathedral Choir offers unrivalled opportunities for musical children to develop their skills and to flourish in a world of music and song. But many families cannot afford to pay for the all-round education that a Wells Cathedral chorister gets and we lose talented voices every year because of that.
The Wells Cathedral Chorister Trust wants to raise enough money to make sure that no deserving child misses out on this unique chance and with your regular support we will.

a message from our royal patron
Wells Cathedral Chorister Trust is working hard to ensure that any musical child can benefit from the wonderful start in life that being a chorister provides. Your support to help build the endowment fund to make this happen is invaluable. It will ensure that no gifted child is excluded from the opportunity to flourish in a world of music and song.
Thank you.

How you can help to make a differencE
Each year, despite having the raw musical talent, some children are unable to take up their place as a chorister at Wells due to a lack of money and those voices are lost. With your help as a Friend of The Wells Cathedral Chorister Trust we will give this wonderful chance to young children from all backgrounds, because talent crops up everywhere.
To help secure the future of the Cathedral Choir the Trust’s goal is to increase the regular income raised from our Friends to £100k per year.
You can become part of how our family of Friends contribute to those funds by setting up a regular monthly gift, because regular support is best. It helps the Trust to plan ahead, reduces administration costs and supports more children.
Everyone who joins our family by making a monthly contribution is a Friend of the Trust and we are grateful for any support, however there are two suggested levels:
We also welcome one-off donations at any time by personal cheque or via the website.
“With your help an ever increasing number of children will benefit from the musical education on offer at Wells Cathedral. As the Trustee with responsibility for our family of supporters I look forward to getting to know you all and organising events on your behalf. Please tell your friends about us.”

“By supporting WCCT you not only help sustain literally centuries of musical choral excellence here in Wells Cathedral but you will also provide exceptional educational opportunities for those who would otherwise be unable to afford them. The financial grants given by WCCT literally change children’s lives by giving them one of this city’s greatest gifts - the chance to become a Cathedral Chorister and attend Wells Cathedral School itself a centre of musical excellence. Thank you for helping.”

Former Choristers: What Wells Did For Us
”It was at Wells that all my music foundations were built. I grew in confidence in that rich environment and it gave me a wonderful grounding. Having the opportunity to perform professionally from such a young age is an unbeatable opportunity for talented children.”
Meeta Raval - Opera Singer, Cardiff Singer of the World Finalist 2011
“My chorister days at Wells were some of the happiest I can recall, and I still maintain friendships from that time. They also prepared me for the career I am in today; not only from a musical perspective, but also by learning how to play as a team and how to conduct oneself in professional situations that most children would not normally know about. They were the best of times and I owe Wells an awful lot.”
David Buckley - Hollywood Soundtrack Composer
“If it wasn’t for the Chorister Trust, myself, my sister and brother wouldn’t have benefitted from the excellent music foundation I received at Wells Cathedral. This has led to me studying at the Royal College of Music where I am currently training to be an opera singer.”
Maddie Perring - Student, Royal College of Music
